HISTORY
The
C.I.A.P. (Costruzione
Italiana Apparecchi Precisione) company, was established
in Bologna in 1963. At first the company made parts for
optical appliances and data processing machines.
In the 70s the company
converted to producing motorcycle gears and this is still its main
activity today. The 80s marked a significant change for the
company. Between 1982 and 1983 it became a customer of the company
Honda Italia Industriale di Atessa. The relations with the
Japanese multinational company developed increasingly and led, on
31 July 1988, to Honda Motor, taking over the entire share
capital of C.I.A.P. through the group's European companies
.

Japanese directors joined the
company's board of directors. With the
tradition and experience they had acquired with the Parent
Company, these directors brought in new work systems aimed at a
precise objective: the
internationalisation of the company.
So
a comprehensive restructuring phase began, involving every sector:
the IT network, the set of machine tools, materials logistic,
and so on. Today, C.I.A.P. , with
a built-up plant of 6,710 sq.m, an area of 15,713 sq.m, and a work
force of 85 employees, can be considered as a 21st century
company. It is oriented toward on-going research of high quality
standards, able to offer increasingly complete kits, as part of a
mind-set that covers both Just-in-time and co-operation with
Customers and Suppliers. |
